We have a story that proves love can happen in the most unexpected—and sometimes hilarious—ways.

Growing up in southeast Houston, you’d think we would have crossed paths before 2021. But nope, fate had other plans.

I had been off working in the Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio, and when I finally returned home to Houston, little did I know that the next chapter wasn’t going to be about career moves or local hangouts. It was going to be about Carla. At the time, she was living up in The Woodlands, busy being a nurse anesthetist, probably thinking she had her life all figured out.

Our first date was in the Heights on August 10th, 2021.

Carla showed up at the wrong restaurant. She blames me, of course — but hey, I say it’s just the universe testing our sense of humor right from the start. Somehow, that perfectly imperfect moment set the tone for everything that came after.

Now, almost four years later, we’re still going strong. We have since purchased a lovely home together and share it with three furballs (Toby, Bennie and Astro) who keep our life lively, chaotic, and definitely full of fur.

So yeah, maybe showing up at the wrong restaurant was the best wrong move I ever made. Because sometimes, the wrong place is exactly where you’re meant to be.

The Proposal:

After almost three fantastic years together, we took a trip to the breathtaking Amalfi Coast in Italy.

We spent a few days in this amazing little town called Positano, perched on cliffs overlooking the sea, and that’s where I got down on one knee and popped the question. Carla’s surprise and joy when she said yes was everything I could have hoped for

Now, it wasn’t all smooth sailing — we lost our luggage and had to scramble to buy new clothes, which was a bit stressful at the time but honestly, it just made the whole thing even more memorable.

As we get ready for the big day, we want to thank all of you for being part of this journey with us. We can’t wait to celebrate, laugh, and create some amazing memories together.
